Brief Introduction

The responsibilities of the laboratory service team include providing design and construction services for all new laboratory projects, providing renovation and maintenance services for laboratory that are in operation, and operating and maintaining laboratory-related central system equipment and facilities. Specifically, LSD will contribute to the university in the following aspects:

1. Provide technical support for all new laboratory projects, including the following contents
StageService Scope
Early Stage of the ProjectSummarize the lab requirements and specifications;Complete the concept design of new labs;
Budget/Bidding/Procurement StageAssist users to complete the procurement documents
Deep DesignReview contractor‘s design drawings including building, HVAC, electrical schematic diagrams and shop drawings
ConstructionParticipate in Contractor on-site co-ordination and liaison
Participate of handover procedures (incl. Testing & Commissioning, defects, outstanding works)
2. Provide renovation and maintenance services for all laboratories that are in operation, including the following aspects:

OperationDefect rectifications (received through reporting systems)/Work orders for minor works items (Term Contractor works)/centralized system and equipment maintenance, etc.;
Emergency ManagementEmergency response to public auxiliary facilities in the laboratory, including preparation of relevant emergency response materials and temporary on-site disposal;
3. Operation and maintenance of laboratory-related central system equipment and facilities:

The central system equipment and facilities provided by the university for the laboratory include central compressed air system, central nitrogen system, central pure water system, wastewater system, etc. LSD team operates and maintains the equipment and facilities to ensure the normal use of the central system and the operation of the laboratory. Specifically, the services including the following aspects:

  • Repairs and preventative maintenance of DI, CA and N2 central systems
  • Repairs and preventative maintenance of lab exhaust systems
  • Repairs and preventative maintenance of wastewater treatment systems
  • Repairs and preventative maintenance of fume cupboards, BSC, cold rooms , clean rooms etc.
